My FMP Project- Introduction

Project Introduction

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” - Eleanor Roosevelt

The aim of this project is to create a portfolio book showing make-up artist skills through visual storytelling. Living the Dream will present the artist's unique style, while also displaying the technical skills and techniques that any capable MUA should have. The reader will step into a fantasy world through make-up, wig styles and our unfulfilled dreams. This book will not only be for people that want to use the makeup artist tips but also for potential future employers. Living the Dream will be a collection of photographs that display a makeup artist's best work.
“A book is a dream that you hold in your hands”- Neil Gaiman, 2013
Have you ever daydreamed about a magical world, but never gotten round to putting all your thoughts on paper? Magic is often the key in fantasy. Creating a fantasy world means building the world based upon reality and making sure that reader knows the rules of that world. The characters must remain true to those rules throughout the story. For readers to accept and continue reading the story, they have to believe in the world and accept what is happening to those characters.

“The best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment when you are between asleep and awake when you don't know the difference between reality and fantasy when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul that the dream is a reality, and it really happened.” -James Arthur Baldwin

As a makeup artist, it is much easier to create something visually and show emotions through make-up and styling, making something truly extraordinary. I want to create something more than just a book, something that was like a legacy which would be appreciated and passed on by makeup lovers.  It is often said that nothing else matters but the story.
